Release Notes

  • RSVP to future events fully implemented
  • New introduction of color blind accessible colors for color variants: success, error, primary, secondary, information, warning
  • Began refactoring how navigation works to make the most sense. The most notable change is the “Map filters” page which is now an accordion model instead of a standalone page. This allows for quick switching between views and makes more sense to the user from a user experience perspective. You may notice very subtle changes in navigation in the future screenshots
  • New modal variants for events!
    • Future events
    • Ended events
    • Live events
  • Live events now have a “check in” button
  • Future events have a “RSVP” button
  • We updated our map marker colors to mean:
    • Red: Ended event
    • Green: Future event
    • Orange: Live event
    • Purple: Business
    • Blue: Posts
    • Yellow: Currently viewing
    • Faded: viewed in the past
  • Thanks to our new geolocation query algorithm we increased the max viewable area 4 times! you can now view 4,000,000 square miles at once!
    • To avoid too much clutter we do limit the number of markers on a map, this increase in viewing area allows the user to identify hotspots and zoom in to investigate
  • Introducing Grafana to our tech stack to monitor query performance, outages, cluster status, alerting staff and more
  • Introducing Prometheus to our tech stack to aggregate metrics and report to Grafana
  • Introducing EAS insights to monitor app version adaptation amongst users. This will also allow us in the future to push updates to the app OTA instead of issuing a new update in the app store every time we add a feature or fix a bug
  • Button styling to be more accessible for our color blind audience.
  • Event attendee information functionality. We now display RSVP status, how your attending (with vehicle, photographer, vendor)
    • If user attends with a vehicle, the UI will display vehicle information and a photo!

    • Our content moderation platform will transition into more of a staff, moderator and admin panel with the addition of this feature and future features
  • Full screen event view (Screenshots to see all the exciting updates)
  • Event photo tagging system fully integrated
    • After very careful conversation with stakeholders and staff we decided that the user can only tag themselves or their vehicle(s). The poster of the photo also has the ability to lock tagging or remove any tags they believe are wrongly tagged.
  • Bug fixes reported by staff – We make it a point to address bugs ASAP instead of putting them off.

Whats Next?

This sprint really opened our team’s eyes as to what this app could be. Looking back at other sprints it really is a tangible difference. As you may have noticed, we’ve moved on from the map view and have been spending the majority of our time on events. We believe events are the heart of DrivnBye and we want to make sure we add the right features for auto enthusiasts.

PS there are SO MANY features we want to add, but if we did we’d never release. Expect tons of new tools and features in the future!

We look forward to seeing your sprint 8!
– The DrivnBye Team
